Check: 3 branches of Trigeminal, EOM, Bones, Teeth<\/p>\n

Injuries to cheek between tragus and midcheek have injured parotid or facial nerve until proven otherwise<\/p>\n

<\/span>3 Questions<\/span><\/h3>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How is your vision (inquire about bilateral diplopia, unilateral, usually from cornea\/lens)<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Is your face numb<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Are your teeth meeting normally<\/p>\n

Test muscles of facial expression<\/p>\n

Feel entire face, especially infraorbital rim, zygomatic frontal-junction (lateral portion of orbit.)<\/p>\n

Pull on upper palate for Lefort.\u00a0 Palpate zygoma inside bucal mucosa<\/p>\n

<\/span>X-Rays<\/span><\/h3>\n

Water\u0092s View-orbital rims, infraorbital floor, maxilla, and maxillary sinuses<\/p>\n

For mid-facial fractures, one view 30-degree occipitomental (Water\u0092s) is sufficient, do not need 3 view series.\u00a0 If positive, get CT scan.\u00a0 (J Trauma 52:688 2002)<\/p>\n

Jug Handle-zygomatic arches and skull base<\/p>\n

Caldwell-AP for frontal bones and sinuses<\/p>\n

Normal series is Water\u0092s, Caldwell, and lateral<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Extra-Townes for the zygoma and mandibular rami or<\/p>\n

Panorex for mandibular condyles or base of skull<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
