Generally these studies are more difficult to implement given financial constraints, small sample sizes, and the complex nature of studying people&#8217;s behavior (rather than searching databases or studying concrete clinical outcomes).<\/p>\n<p>The EM specialty slowly continues to improve and overcome such methodological flaws and obstacles in educational research. <strong> <em>Sneak peek alert:<\/em><\/strong> Dr. Sue Farrell (Brigham Women&#8217;s Hospital) and a team of other notable EM faculty just got a publication accepted by <em>Academic Emergency Medicine<\/em> highlighting the top 2008 educational research publications in EM. It plans to be an annual series. Keep a lookout for it.<\/p>\n<p>Increasingly, education is coming to the forefront of academic emergency medicine. In addition to the traditional EM journal opportunities for publication, there are places to publish education-specific studies:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_1qMRgsCB08o\/SjXcuzRyA3I\/AAAAAAAAAGw\/V95-d2ot-is\/s1600-h\/New+MedEdPORTAL+logo.jpg\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/part3\/e04c80fe45e014de1c6959fa94bd41de.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>1. AAMC&#8217;s MedEdPortal (<a href=\"http:\/\/services.aamc.org\/30\/mededportal\/servlet\/segment\/mededportal\/information\">link<\/a>)<br \/>\nA free peer-reviewed publication and repository service.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_1qMRgsCB08o\/SjXcUjAFAWI\/AAAAAAAAAGo\/snxyncFvmxs\/s1600-h\/122420475.gif\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/part3\/bddd4bf6ef644fe581ebd36ede767bb4.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>2. <a href=\"http:\/\/www3.interscience.wiley.com\/journal\/118902579\/home\"> <em>Academic EM<\/em> journal<\/a>&#8211; Education Supplement<br \/>\nStarting this year, the <em>AEM <\/em>\u00a0journal, partnering with the Council of Residency Directors (CORD), will be publishing an annual supplement which will feature only high quality, education-specific articles. This will likely include publications ranging from traditional educational research articles to select education abstracts from the recent CORD meeting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_1qMRgsCB08o\/SjXdURDBfjI\/AAAAAAAAAG4\/m8ON4-UWVmY\/s1600-h\/XLargeThumb.00001888-200906000-00000.CV.jpeg.jpg\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/images\/part3\/23a4c6064afca598446c6e70aaf227d3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n3. <em>Academic Medicine<\/em> journal (<a href=\"http:\/\/journals.lww.com\/academicmedicine\/pages\/default.aspx\">link<\/a>)<br \/>\nThe journal for the Association for American Medical Colleges (AAMC)<\/p>\n<p>4. <em>Teaching and Learning in Medicine<\/em> journal (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.siumed.edu\/tlm\">link<\/a>)<br \/>\nFor those with educational innovations, this international journal publishes twice yearly on &#8220;Really Good Stuff&#8221; in medical education.
